BrainChip partners with SiFive to deploy AI/ML technology at the Edge

The world’s leading commercial producer of neuromorphic AI chips and IP, BrainChip Holdings, has combined its technology and partnered with SiFive an RISC-V chipmaker, all set to provide chip designers with optimized AI/ML for edge computing.
As reported by VentureBeat, BrainChip’s Akida is an advanced neural networking processor architecture that brings AI technology to the edge in a manner that is beyond the capacity of existing technologies through its optimum performance, coupled with its ultra-low power and matched with its on-chip learning.
Jerome Nadel, BrainChip’s CMO, stated that software and hardware are integrated by SiFive solutions, helping to accelerate AI/ ML applications through their configurable multi-core and multi-cluster capable design. The combination of SiFive’s processor and BranChip’s Akida will offer an excellent solution when it comes to integrated edge AI compute.
Nadel also added that the design of SiFive’s processor has been optimized to serve a wide array of applications that require high-throughput, single-thread performance while facing the hindrance of tight power and area constraints.
The human brain is mimicked by BrainChip’s Akida technology, to analyze only essential sensor inputs at the point of acquisition, processing data with unparalleled efficiency, precision, and economy of energy. Ensuring that AI/ML is kept local to the chip and free of the cloud curtails latency while also enhancing privacy and data security.
