Cisco unveils IoT industrial routers and gateway products

Wifi 6, 5G Internet networks are the latest advancements of technology. It is important for a service provider to upgrade their private networks with advanced security features. As most of the organizations are opting for a hybrid work environment it becomes more important to provide cutting edge technology that unifies different teams of the company.

 

Cisco Systems, an American Multinational and technology company headquartered in California unveiled a new series of catalyst routers and IoT gateways that are specifically designed for organizations and support Wifi 6, 5G, 4G LTE. These IoT gateways also vouches for a secure network.

 

The released routers are Cisco Catalyst IR1800 Rugged Series, IR8100 Heavy Duty Series, and IR8300 Rugged Series. The three series are designed to ease the enterprise requirement for IoT connectivity. Through CISCO’s IOS XE operating system these routers can be configured to access fast internet on mobile, tablets, laptops and desktop.

 

This newly released IoT Gateway Series is designed in such a way that it can provide indoor and outdoor connectivity, it comes packed with Cisco’s IoT Operations Dashboard and simplifies deployment on a cloud based network.

New Catalyst based routers will be available to customers from Mid June. The routers are modular and can swap out the CPU or batteries which will also lead to extension to the router's battery life. 

 

The routers will also be connected to Cisco Cyber Vision, the advanced IoT security platform by Cisco. Cisco Cyber Vision will work as the right system to extend the enterprise’s visibility. It also supports secure remote access for monitoring devices. 

 

As reported by sdx central Vikas Butaney, Vice President and General Manager of Cisco IoT said, “Our customers need our hardware to be in play for 7-10 years in their operational environments. This modularity eliminates a rip and replace cycle to take advantage of 5G  and whatever comes next.”
