NTT is about to expand its Data Center Footprint by 20% title banner

The Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation is commonly referred to as NTT. It is an IT firm that is restricted to telecommunication, cybersecurity, cloud, research and development services and others. Its products include that of mobile phone, broadband, digital television, IT and network services etc.

The NTT group comprises significant companies, which are again compartmentalized into five different segments. The most major subsidiaries include NTT East, NTT West, NTT Communications, NTT Docomo, and NTT Data.

 

Expansion

 

To develop a connected future, NTT Ltd.'s Worldwide Data Centers is expanding its global data centre footprint by 20%. NTT's data centers are spread in Europe, North America, Africa, and Asia, with a major presence in India. It creates and manages worldwide linked data center networks that span several regions including –

 

  • Americas : Hillsboro, OR, Santa Clara, CA, Chicago, IL, and Ashburn, VA will all get new data center campuses in 2020/21. The first of seven planned data centers on the 240MW facility will open in 2022 near Phoenix, Arizona.

 

  • EMEA : In Amsterdam, the Netherlands, as well as Munich and Frankfurt, Germany, NTT has launched new data center buildings. The new flagship London 1 Data Center, which debuted in December and will boost capacity by more than 200 percent, is located in the United Kingdom. NTT plans to expand its available IT load in EMEA by more than 40% over the next two years.

  • APAC : By the end of 2021, Indonesia's Jakarta 3 will build a 15MW power plant in Bekasi, around 30 kms from Jakarta. In Tokyo, a new data center with a capacity of 21MW for IT load has been established. NTT is seeking to expand in Bangkok, Thailand, the Osaka Metropolitan Area in Japan, and Southern Vietnam.

 

  • India : The Chandivali campus, India's first operational hyperscale data center park, will shortly surpass 85MW of IT load when Mumbai 8 goes live. This will help NTT maintain its dominant position in the Indian market. In 2021, 10 data centers would be interconnected across India, with submarine cable landing stations planned in Mumbai and Chennai.

 

According to Business Wire, NTT is extending its worldwide data center footprint and is constructing an undersea connection that will connect Singapore, Malaysia, and India. The MIST cable system will be 11,000 kms long, which is equivalent to flying from New York to Tokyo. 

 

By the middle of 2023, the project will be completed. Because of NTT's reputation as a tier 1 global network service provider, enterprises will have a secure platform to meet their growing full-stack ICT service requirements.

 

NTT aims to expand its data center operations by 20% to over 600,000 sq. m in over 20 countries and regions. Cross-regional data center connectivity will also benefit from the expanded submarine cable infrastructure. NTT has already begun work on adding 300MW of IT capacity to its portfolio.
