A team led by Mathias Mayer and Andreas Rieker will utilize artificial intelligence (AI) to detect quality problems in real-time as part of the WPS Analytics pilot project.

 

AUDI AG's Head of Production and Logistics Delivery Management Digitization, Michael Haeffner, is satisfied with the site's project.

What is Spot Welding Process?

 

Spot welding (sometimes referred to as resistance spot welding) is a type of resistance welding. This welding process primarily employs an electric current to deliver pressure and heat to the weld in order to join two or more metal plates.

 

It generates heat by sending an electric current through tough materials such as low carbon steel and bringing a copper alloy electrode into contact with the surface of the sheet metal.

 

The deployment of solutions for the entire Volkswagen Group is envisaged.

 

Audi is a pioneer in the ongoing development of this prospective use case as part of the Volkswagen Group's industrial cloud. The system integrates production data from group factories all over the world into a single high-performance digital platform. 

 

The primary purpose is to improve efficiency and cut costs. Each linked location can download its machine, tools, and system software directly from the industrial cloud (similar to an app store), increasing product efficiency. 

 

Following the successful implementation of the "WPS Analytics" algorithm and dashboards in Neckarsulm, preparations are in the works to roll them out across the Group. 

 

Colleagues at Volkswagen's Emden factory also rely on optimizing algorithmic control for resistance spot welding, thus the first synergies have already been realized. The outcomes of both projects are dispersed throughout the industrial cloud.

The Audi AI: TRAIL Quattro is the fourth concept car with an electric drive system in the series, which began with the introduction of the Audi Aicon at the 2017 IAA
